This historic pub with rooms, which dates back to 1867, boasts a prominent position at the top of the High Street. It has recently undergone an extensive transformation, retaining its unique character while introducing a stylish look and feel.

We are family-friendly and we welcome dogs too in our bar and courtyard areas only; they are not allowed in the restaurant.
Mussel bar at the Duke
Seafood fans won’t want to miss out on a delicious new addition - our very own Midweek Mussels Menu.
Offering a mouthwatering serving of fresh steamed mussels in seven tantalising sauce varieties, including: Orchard View cider, leek and shallot cream; Spitfire Ale and bacon, and Steamed Bombay-Curried Mussels with shallots, brandy and garam masala.
As with all the seafood on offer at The Duke, the mussels will be freshly caught locally and served with freshly baked sourdough bread and crisp, skin-on fries.
Executive Chef Gareth Finney, who devised the menu, said: “The Duke has built a fantastic reputation for its seafood. We’re also really excited about the seven new sauces that we have created, aimed at offering something for all tastes, from traditional flavours to bolder combinations - with a couple even including our own award-winning beer and cider.”

Outside dining in Whitstable
When the weather is fine, enjoy al fresco dining and drinking in the Duke of Cumberland’s spacious courtyard garden, including an outside kitchen. Freshly prepared food is served every day, using the finest seasonal local produce to create a delicious menu of contemporary dishes and light bites. As you might expect from the pub’s coastal location, freshly caught seafood is a speciality.
